THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR) (Title 32), Position Description Number D0606000 and is part of the IL AASF 2, National Guard.

Requirements:

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.


Military Grades : Enlisted Only

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : MUST possess experience which has provided the knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations, aircraft performance data, aircraft records, maintenance, and aircraft systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : GS-10 Level - Must possess specialized experience which includes at least one-year on-the-job experience in the grade (or a comparable military rank) immediately below the next higher level; Must possess specialized experience which includes qualified and designated a UH-60V Nonrated Crewmember Flight Instructor (Fl). Must; Must be designated Readiness Level (RL) 1, Crew Chief (CE), Day (D), Night (N), and Night Vision Goggle (NVG) modes at time of application. Must demonstrate the highest degree of technical competency in aircraft systems operations. Must remain proficient in the principles of instruction, and demonstrate good judgement, patience, tact, and a desire to instruct. Knowledge is mandatory of electrical, communications, navigation, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems applying to aircraft and related systems, flight theory, minor in-flight maintenance, aircraft emergency procedures, and using and interpreting diagrams, schematics, loading charts, technical publications and flight manuals. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to prepare lesson plans, documents, and reports. Knowledgeable of methods of instruction, aircrew training program requirements, procedures, and standards of performance. Must apply this knowledge in planning, developing, and executing unit training/evaluation programs.

In order to be considered qualified, you must have at least one-year on-the-job experience in the grade (or a comparable military rank) immediately below the next higher level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
