Description:

Who may apply: Current, permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service and current DFAS VRA employees in the local commuting area and eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants.

The duty station of these positions will be assigned at the time of a job offer, and pay will be set in accordance with the duty station. Any on-site requirements will be determined by the duty station assigned upon selection.

Requirements:

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

At the GS-07 level: one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience is defined as experience which would equip the applicant with the knowledge of maintaining accounting or financial ledgers; posting financial transactions; preparing accounting reports; reconciling accounts and working with a variety of accounting and financial automated systems.

At the GS-08 level: one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience is defined as experience which would equip the applicant with the knowledge of reconciling accounts in accounting systems involving extensive subdivision of accounts, frequent and varied adjustments to accounts, or extensive balancing and reconciling of detailed summary accounts; or resolving problems in balancing accounts, and adjusting discrepancies; provide leadership to co-workers and employees on accounting support processing, policies, procedures, and functions in an expert capacity.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. GS-07 level: Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-06 or higher grade in Federal Service. GS-08 level: Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or higher grade in Federal Service.
