This vacancy is for a GS-1670-12, Equipment Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SFLC IBCT SUPPLY BRANCH -SFLC-IBCT-SUPP in Baltimore, MD.Requirements:
To qualify at the GS- 12 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Serving as Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) and developing specialized technical information for propulsion machinery equipment and systems; Providing plans/arrangements for procurement by developing and/or analyzing contract specifications, making final determinations regarding the acceptance/rejection of contractor proposals, and examining propulsion machinery equipment or service provided to determine if specifications and schedules are met; Providing technical advice and assistance to groups in regards to significantly modifying total equipment systems, groups of commodity classes, or subsystems.
Specialized experience must include the following:
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures in the design, procurement, maintenance, modification, and repair of assigned classes of propulsion machinery equipment and other hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E) marine equipment.
- Ability to perform technical analysis of engineering drawings, military specifications, blueprints, commercial catalogs, and other supporting documentation.
- Ability to accomplish difficult and complex assignments such as planning and conducting work that requires significant judgment in evaluating, selecting and adapting precedents and modifying procedures and criteria.
- Ability to perform market research for procurement/contract actions for marine shipboard propulsion machinery.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to provide technical and advisory services.
NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
