Description:

You will serve as a CHEMIST in the Navy Drug Screening Laboratory of NAVDRUGLAB GREAT LAKES IL.

This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Requirements:

ALL applicants must meet the BASIC REQUIREMENT:
  1. SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION of a Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH RESUME TO QUALIFY.
OR
  1. Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH RESUME TO QUALIFY.
In addition to MEETING the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Reviewing and certifying laboratory drug test results to include providing initial certification of positive and negative drug testing results;
  • Reviewing test documentation in order to ensure that all specimens are properly handled throughout testing process;
  • Reviewing chain of custody documents to ensure that all analytical procedures performed on specimens are accurately documented; AND
  • Evaluating test results to determine acceptability of samples based on immunoassay, chromatography and/or mass spectra.
