This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans; Border and Immigration Policy.The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a senior immigration policy analyst on PLCY's Border and Immigration (B&I) team.
Non-BU : This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Specialized Experience:You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
- For this position, specialized experience is defined asas (A) Supporting the development and implementation of policies related to border security and immigration policy and related initiatives; (B) Using qualitative methods to assess programmatic success and assisting in determining improvements to immigration policy programs; and (C) Communicating orally and in writing to prepare complex reports, memoranda and position papers, and to solicit/present information.
- For this position, specialized experience is defined as (A) Developing and implementing immigration policies related to border security, immigration policy, immigration enforcement, and humanitarian protection and related initiatives; (B) Using qualitative methods to assess and improve immigration policy programs; (C) Identifying, evaluating, and recommending implementation and/or changes to policies; and (D) Communicating orally and in writing to prepare complex reports, memoranda and position papers, and to solicit/present information.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
