Description:

You will serve as a PAINTER SUPERVISOR I in the Preservation Shop (Code 970), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

  • Experience monitoring the quantity and quality of work performed by subordinates, requiring the application of thorough expert knowledge of the methods, techniques, procedures, tools, materials, and practice of the painter trade.
  • Experience providing technical guidance, performance evaluations, and feedback to work leaders and journeymen.
  • Experience conducting planning reviews with assigned personnel, engineers and technicians of support codes where needed.
  • Experience analyzing work plans developed and efforts regarding staffing, motivation, and training to develop all employees.
  • Experience selecting proper material for each particular purpose.
  • Experience providing advice or instruction to employees on work or administrative matters.
