THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a Surface Maintenance Mechanic Leader (Title 32) (Permanent), Position Description Number D2098000 and is part of the VA G4, National Guard.

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E6/SSG - E8/MSG) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E6/SSG - E8/MSG), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to serve as a working leader of three or more surface maintenance mechanics; and performing mechanic duties such as maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of complex combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment having complicated mechanical and non-mechanical systems with a variety of interconnected systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have at least 24 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WL-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WL grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
- Experience planning use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
- Experience performing non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc.
- Experience preparing for and participating in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
- Experience assuring tools, special tools, test measurement and diagnostic equipment, personal protective equipment, repair parts, petroleum, oils and lubricants, and other materiel are available when needed.
