Description:

This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA
Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS), Reno, Nevada, Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS).
As a Prosthetic Representative, you will work on various prosthetic and sensory aids programmatic assignments for PSAS. This serves as a standard Prosthetic Representative functional statement to be used throughout the VHA.



Requirements:

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements :
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).

Grade Determinations:GS-5:
  • One year of creditable experience that demonstrates knowledge of basic medical and anatomy terminology; knowledge of accounting methods; and the ability to research, analyze and comprehend, and apply decisions
OR
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution AND at least 24 semester hours in coursework related to healthcare, public administration, or business
GS-7:
  • One year of creditable experience equivalent to at least GS-5 that demonstrates knowledge of basic medical and anatomy terminology; knowledge of accounting methods; and the ability to research, analyze and comprehend, and apply decisions
OR
  • One full year of graduate level education
GS-9:
  • One year of creditable experience equivalent to at least GS-7 that demonstrates knowledge of basic medical and anatomy terminology; knowledge of accounting methods; and the ability to research, analyze and comprehend, and apply decisions
OR
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
GS-11:
  • One year of creditable experience equivalent to at least GS-9 that demonstrates knowledge of basic medical and anatomy terminology; knowledge of accounting methods; and the ability to research, analyze and comprehend, and apply decisions
OR
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-11 . The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-5 to GS-11.

Preferred Experience: Experience and/or knowledge of Prosthetics Programs and business practices. Experience with the Advanced Prosthetic Acquisition Tool (APAT) and purchase card rules ad regulations. Provides great customer service and able to communicate well with a variety of internal and external customers.
