Biological Science Technician

Description:

This position is a Biological Science Technician, GS-0404-5 working in Mayville, Wisconsin, for the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge.

This is a temporary position expected to last 6 months (1039 hours) with an Intermittent schedule.

Requirements:

Only experience and education obtained by 03/17/2025 will be considered.

In order to qualify for this position you must possess Minimum Qualification:

Possess at least one year of specialized experience that was equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service which equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities needed in order to successfully perform the duties of this position and that was in the same field or field directly related to this position. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) assisting with wildlife population surveys; 2) capturing, handling, and tagging a variety of wildlife; 3) assisting with the collection of seeds, propagation, handling, and caring for federally listed plants or host plants of federally listed species; 4) Identifying invasive species and organisms; 5) biological data collection and recording, OR

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled, OR

Possess a combination of specialized experience (as above) and education (as above), when prorated, combine to meet the qualification requirements of this position. Experience and education are each computed as percentages of their requirements and must equal 100 percent when combined. Only education beyond the second year is creditable to meet this standard.
