This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Medical Center, in White River Junction, VT. The primary purpose of this position is to operate patient transport vehicles carrying up to 8 passengers.Requirements:
COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE (CDL) REQUIREMENT : This position requires a current and valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement (P). Your CDL must be clearly documented on your resume . Please do not upload a copy of your license with your application. If an interview is requested, you may be required to provide a copy of your CDL.PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The position is required to lift heavy objects while loading and unloading cargo. The motor vehicle operator assists patients in and out of vehicles, securing mobility aids in preparation for transit. The position requires prolonged periods of driving, sometimes in times of traffic congestion, and the operator must be constantly alert and aware of his/her surroundings. Working conditions for this position are hazardous. The operator may be required to drive on steep terrain during periods of inclement weather. The operator is subjected to the stress of driving for long periods of time in heavy traffic conditions. The position requires the employee to be exposed to exhaust fumes and loud noises daily. The operator will also work outside in the elements for periods of time (i.e., rain, snow and ice and extreme heat).
