To qualify for the position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a(n) Head Offset Pressperson in Charge (SPF) these duties require skill in:

Job Element #1 Ability to do the work of a Head Offset Pressperson in Charge without more than normal supervision. These duties include:
- Knowledge of techniques used to set-up, operate, adjust, and maintain all sheet-fed and envelope/specialty two-color, four color, six color and eight color presses in the Offset Press Section.

- Receiving assignments from the Group Chief;
- Reading press statement and job jacket to determine status and specifications jobs to be printed;
- Assist or Inspect press to ensure it is oiled, in working order, and that all safety guards are in place ensuring all safety procedures are followed;
- Assisting and directing Printing Plant Workers (PPW's) and Helpers ensuring proper job completion.

In addition to the requirements above, GPO employees competing under merit promotion procedures- must meet all of the following criteria in accordance with Federal Merit Promotion Plan, GPO Instruction 615.2C (Appendix B): 1. Have completed a formal, recognized apprenticeship or GPO journeyperson training program, or possess substantially equivalent practical experience in the trade of the vacancy; AND 2. Have at least 1 year of journeyperson experience subsequent to completion of the above apprenticeship or training; AND 3. Have served a minimum of 1 year in Career or Career-Conditional appointment in the GPO.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
