Requirements:
An undergraduate or graduate degree in related fields such as Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Administration/ Management, or Recreation may be substituted for twelve (12) months' work experience. This experience may have been gained in an indoor or outdoor environment working with recreational programs, events, and/ or facilities. Possesses and maintains the following certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED. Possesses demonstrated experience in planning and executing aquatic or recreational programs/ events. Possess demonstrated experience in leading or supervising aquatics or recreation staff.The following certification must be obtained within 6 months of appointment:
- Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
Other desirable qualities include:
- Lifeguard Instructor (Red Cross). - Water Safety Instructor (Red Cross).
- Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (Red Cross).
