SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE : Ability to lift and move heavy objects and perform heavy cleaning safely. Ability to provide continual care and attention to avoid accidents and finish work properly. Ability to use power cleaning equipment and perform minor maintenance on equipment. Knowledge of how to properly use a variety of household and industrial cleaning agents, and industrial cleaning equipment. Must be able to recognize chemical cleaning compounds and solutions that may constitute hazardous materials and waste disposal.
RESPONSIBILILTY : Independently completes steps or sequences of steps needed to complete assigned work. Follows specific oral or written instructions when changes or new assignments are made. Uses some judgment in deciding that the standards of sanitation, attractiveness, safety, and service are met. The supervisor periodically checks to see that work is done on time and according to instructions. Exercises care with tools and equipment used.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Exerts moderately heavy physical effort in controlling heavy equipment, carrying, setting, and working on ladders and scaffolds. Prolonged standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries supplies, materials and objects weighing up to 45 lbs. independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS : The majority of work is performed indoors in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. May be exposed to dirt, disagreeable odors and minor injuries due to cleaning and operating cleaning equipment. May be exposed to the possibility of slipping on wet floors.
Satisfactorily complete all background checks in accordance with DoD and Marine Corps policy for employees who provide childcare services. Must pass a pre-employment physical and annual physical, thereafter, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease. Must complete all DoD training requirements within the specified time including orientation, initial, and annual ongoing training requirements, and required certifications, if any. Must maintain current food handlers, CPR and First Aid certifications. May be required to obtain a government driver¿s license. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills. Position is subject to both pre-employment and random drug testing as a condition of employment. A positive drug test, or failure to submit for testing, may become the basis for removal from this position.
