This position is located in the Environmental Management Service (EMS) of the St. Cloud, MN VA Medical Center. The Housekeeping Aid Leader is responsible for leading and overseeing the duties of Housekeeping Aids in the performance of housekeeping related services in the various areas of the medical center.Requirements:

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements:

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note : A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: This position requires occasional bending/stooping, crouching, and kneeling. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Approximately 40 percent of time spent standing, 40 percent of time spent walking and 20 percent of time spent sitting. Hearing and visual acuity. Manual dexterity to use a phone and operate equipment.
Working Conditions: Incumbent usually works indoors in a well-heated, well-lighted, and well-ventilated building. Incumbent is exposed to dirt, bacteria, disagreeable odors, and may be subjected to contagious diseases associated with hospital settings. Incumbent is exposed to possibility of cuts and bruises from carts and machinery. Incumbent is exposed to skin irritations from cleaning solutions in concentrated form used in the housekeeping activity. Incumbent is exposed to vibration and noise from equipment used when performing cleaning tasks. Incumbent may, on occasion, be subjected to inclement weather conditions when removing trash from the buildings or performing other duties that may take him/her outside of a building. The position requires walking, standing, bending, and carrying items. This work requires care and safety conscious work practices with office equipment, elevated surfaces, tight work settings, and housekeeping equipment; avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations.
