As a HEALTH SYSTEMS SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-0671-9, you will assist in planning, controlling, directing, organizing, and implementing all medical administrative, operational, training, and personnel activities designed to ensure medical readiness of the unit; manage medical service personnel in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care activities and related training programs, both on the aircraft and on the ground; review and determine medical care, as related to aeromedical evacuation procedures, ensuring the highest level of care is provided; establish and be responsible for on-the-job (OJT) training, the sustainment training program for enlisted personnel, proficiency training, and act as trainer and certifying official; perform as flight instructor/examiner to ensure operational readiness of medical specialists on actual and/or simulated aeromedical evacuation missions; manage, operate, maintain, interpret, and monitor the Air Force Operations Resource Management System (AFORMS) to ensure proper posting of training, requirements for training, effectiveness of the continuation training program, aircrew information at the squadron level; maintain currency as Crew Resource Management (CRM) instructor, ensure flying personnel are trained and actively integrating CRM principles in mission activity; document program effectiveness (e.g., situational awareness; how crew members communicate/interact); monitor, observe, and record medical crew activities prior to, during, and after in-flight missions; perform as a Charge Medical Technician or Medical Technician on large multi-engine transport aircraft during dedicated aeromedical or combined aeromedical/airlift missions; ensure patients, equipment, and supplies are secured prior to flight; develop, plan, implement, and administer training, disaster response, detailed mobility plans, emergency disaster plans, operations plans for AT and field training exercises, and other similar plans; compile reports of deficiencies and achievements of periodic inspections of unit activities; execute unit budget, to include preparation and monitoring expenditures, as well as establishment of long range requirements and current year shortfalls; may serve as the unit Resource Advisor; manage unit's medical and non-medical supply/equipment accounts and may be the equipment custodian for the unit; manage the unit deployment program; manage the unit Communications Security (COMSEC) program; schedule physical examinations and immunization of unit members and make necessary arrangements with the host medical facility for their accomplishment; train unit members in the performance of supervisory training duties; conduct public relations appearances and speaking programs in support of recruiting activities; assist the Senior Health System Technician in the recruiting program to ensure full manning of the unit; perform other duties as assigned.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):
-- In-depth knowledge of altitude physiology and in-flight patient care requirements and procedures. In-depth knowledge of general management policies, principles, and procedures. Knowledge of the AE mission, organization, programs, requirements, and functions is necessary to understand the operational implications of functional element interrelationships and to plan, organize, and implement unit's programs and health care delivery, both in-flight and on the ground.
-- Ability to follow DOD, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), USAF, AMC, ANG, federal, state, and local instructions, directives, and guidelines.
-- In-depth knowledge of passenger/patient transport principles, associated equipment, and aircraft systems (mechanical restraint systems, cargo doors, ramps, hatches, seats, litters, litter rails, lighting, intercom, and aircraft electrical, power, and oxygen systems).
