Job Overview
We are seeking a Network Security Engineer/Architect to lead the design and enforcement of secure infrastructure policies and procedures within a CMMC-compliant environment. This role is focused on architecture, not implementation or execution, and involves ensuring network security, compliance with CMMC, NIST 800-171, and DFARS, and secure data exchange between on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in securing hybrid cloud infrastructure, monitoring network traffic, and enforcing encryption standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and enforce CMMC security controls for hybrid and cloud-based infrastructure (Levels 2 & 3).
  • Secure network/cloud data exchange, ensuring compliance with NIST 800-171, DFARS, and FedRAMP.
  • Design and implement Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and security segmentation for enterprise networks.
  • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability management, and security hardening of infrastructure components.
  • Provide strategic guidance on security risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Design and implement secure data transfer protocols between on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS solutions to protect network traffic.
  • Ensure data encryption in transit and at rest, using FIPS-compliant encryption standards.
  • Monitor network traffic and cloud interactions to detect and mitigate security threats.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Network Security with a focus on enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in CMMC compliance, NIST 800-171, DFARS, and secure data exchange practices.
  • Strong knowledge of network security, encryption standards, and cloud security models for AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, IAM, encryption tools, and network segmentation.
  • Ability to assess and implement security measures across both network and cloud systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CMMC certification (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Experience working within government, defense, or highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and advanced network security frameworks.
  • Knowledge of security requirements for controlled government networks (COI environments).
