You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC LEADER in the Mechanical Shop (Code 930) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Leading, influencing, and engaging with others to facilitate accomplishment of complex trade operations, providing administrative procedures and governing documents.
Differentiating between different types of material and equipment used in industrial processes.
Preparing paperwork and documentation procedures involving trade processes, including trade standard workbooks, corporate and local process instructions, technical work documents, surveillances.
Analyzing situations fully and accurately and reaching productive decisions with employees. Incumbent as a regular and recurring part of the job, and on a substantially full time and continuing basis, leads three or more workers to accomplish trades and labor work.
Effectively transmitting, receiving, and accurately interpreting ideas, information, and needs of application to an equally experienced employee.
Utilizing shipboard machinery, mechanical principles, steam powered and electric powered machinery, hydraulics, lubricating systems, machining of metals, and trade mathematics.
Manufacturing, repairing, and testing material on equipment per system requirements and supporting documentation safely.
Communicating both orally and in writing sufficient to allow an equally experienced employee to understand the information being presented. Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, techniques.
Operating a variety of power equipment such as portable milling machines, boring bars, portable valve refurbishing machines, and drills as well as hand tools, grinders, wrenches, flushing and test equipment.
Testing, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery utilizing associated safety procedures.
Utilizing shop machinery and tools, including their safety and calibration requirements, uses, and maintenance.
Setting up and operating portable machinery tools (e.g., lars-laps, boring bars, hytorcs, swing-arm grinders, etc.) Skill to use precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, depth gages, calipers, verniers, and various types of micrometers.
